Creating DVDs from your mould damaged videotapes

Intensive care recovery service for videotapes that have suffered from damp or condensation related problems.

This service is available for:- VHS, SVHS, VHSC, SVHSC, video8 ,Hi8 only

Our intensive care recovery service has been designed for recovering as much of the recorded material as possible from those important family memories or other irreplaceable video recordings that have suffered from mould, mildew and other damp or condensation related problems as well as recordings from  tapes with large or multiple sections of damage and produce a DVD or DVDs for you.

The cassette is strip down and tape is inspected to ascertain the level of damage. The tape is placed in a modified  open video deck where it can be visually monitored during the digital capturing process. Often contaminated or badly damaged tapes only run for short periods before problems occur, the most common is blocked video heads causing loss of picture or sound. So we often capture the video recording from the tape in shorter section (that are joined together latter in the process) this allows for the videotape heads and tape path to be cleaned or the tape can be manually move past severely damaged sections or even cut and sliced if necessary. Once as much of the recorded material as possible has been captured, the digital files are joined together on one of our editing stations and a DVD or DVDs are made for you, for additional security of your captured recording we also keep a digital editing / backup file on our system for 30 days.
The entire process is very labour intensive and is therefore  more expensive than our standard videotape rescue / transfer service so each case is individually costed, usually after the initial tape inspection has been carried out.
Contact us by either e-mail or phone to discuss or send the tape or tapes for our pre-assessment service if the tapes have suffered from mildew or mould or any other contaminations then please seal in a polythene bag and send a note with details of the problem.
